Instructions

1. Cut Out Your Shape

Start by selecting your spooky Halloween shape—bats, pumpkins, and Frankenstein faces work well. You can use our free printable templates or draw your own. Cut out the shape from the black paper and then cut out the center to leave a black border.

2. Prepare the Clear Contact

Cut a piece of clear contact paper slightly larger than your shape. Stick the black paper shape face down onto the sticky side of the contact paper. If you’re using clear tape, overlap the tape on the back of your shape until it’s fully covered.

3. Add Colour

Place the sticky side of the contact paper with the shape face down on a flat surface. Let your kids or yourself fill the cut-out area with colourful tissue paper pieces. If you don’t have tissue paper, cellophane works well too. Make sure to cover the entire area with colour.

4. Add Details

Once the coloured area is filled, you can add googly eyes or other decorations. Use glue if necessary to secure any additional details.

5. Trim and Display

Trim any excess contact paper or tape around the edges of your suncatcher. Place it in a sunny window to let it catch the light and add a spooky touch to your Halloween decor.
