Whimsical Chemistry: DIY Potion Fizz for Budding Witches and Wizards
Looking for a way to add a little bit of magical science to your day?! If you're searching for a delightful and engaging activity to enjoy together, look no further. You’ll definitely want to whip up a jar of DIY Potion Fizz. With just a few kitchen essentials like citric acid, baking soda, cornflour, and food dye, you'll create a jar full of vibrant, fizzy fun, ready to bring smiles to your faces. When you and your young apprentices add this potion fizz powder to water, you'll witness a marvelous transformation as it fizzes and bubbles.
Now, let's sprinkle some science into the enchanting mix. Citric acid, the secret ingredient of the potion, and baking soda, the trusty base, stay separate while in powdered form. But when added to water they’re able to mix, creating a fizzy and bubbly reaction that the kids will absolutely love! For extra bubbles you can even add a few drops of dish soap to the water!!
You'll need:
1/3 cup Citric Acid
1/3 cup Baking Soda
1 tablesoon Cornflour (or Cornstarch)
Food Dye
Add all the ingredients to a bowl a mix, be careful not to add too much food dye as the liquid will start the reaction, I use gel food dye for this. If liquid food dye is all you have you can add this to your baking soda separately, give it a good mix and then add this to your citric acid.
You can store your fizz powder in an airtight jar, if it hardens just break it up with a fork.
When you're ready to make some fizzy fun potions simply add your powder to water and watch the magic unfold!
